A family promise
born from love.
Born from love and gratitude
Bennox Foundation was born from love, gratitude, family values, and a deep appreciation for life. As parents to three healthy boys, Rogers and Lieke became even more aware that what many of us see as “normal” is, for many families, a daily struggle: safe pregnancy, childbirth, infant health, food, education, medical care, and the emotional and financial strength to raise a family.
The name Bennox comes from our children’s names: BENson, LenNOX, and JaxX. To us, Bennox Foundation is more than an organisation. It is a family promise to pass on the values of kindness, compassion, service, and love for others.
Our story is deeply connected to Kassunga, a small village in Kalungu District, Uganda, where the late Nasuuna Teopista, Rogers’ mother, once lived.
The Garden of Nasuuna Teopista
She had been given a garden by her husband as a token of love and a way to feed her young family. Moving from the comfort of town life into a rural village was a big change, but Kassunga welcomed her, and she soon opened her heart to the community.
As she settled into village life, Nasuuna could not ignore the hardship around her, families struggling with poverty, clean water, education, work, health care, and daily survival. With the little she had, Nasuuna began to help.
She shared food from her garden, offered work to women, supported school fees where possible, and helped people access medical care. Her kindness was simple, practical, and deeply human. She did not wait to have a lot before giving; she saw people’s needs and responded with compassion.
Carrying the legacy forward
Sadly, Nasuuna passed away suddenly at the age of 36, when Rogers was not even one and a half years old. Although her life was short, the hope and care she brought to Kassunga left a lasting impact. Rogers’ father continued this work as best as he could, and now, as he grows older, we feel called to carry this legacy forward.
For Lieke, this mission also comes from deeply rooted values. Raised to care for others and stand beside people during difficult times, her work as a counsellor, educator, and child protection advocate has shown her how children, youth, and women can flourish when given support, encouragement, and confidence.
Through education, vocational and life skills, personal growth, and mental health support, Bennox Foundation walks alongside the people of Kassunga, with care, dignity, and respect. One child, one young person, one woman, and one family at a time.
